GRC Choirs
The choral program at George Rogers Clark High School comprises three choirs. The Cardinal Singers is an advanced, mixed ensemble that performs frequently throughout the year at school and in the Winchester community. The Men's Chorus and the Women's Chorus are the newest ensembles at GRC and focus primarily on the fundamentals of singing and musicianship. Choir members come from all grade levels and participate in a wide array of extracurricular activities in addition to choir.

The GRC choral program has an active schedule year-round. The choirs perform the national anthem at several events, hold major fundraising shows such as the Chords for Clark concert at the historic Leeds Center for the Arts, collaborate with the GRC instrumental ensembles, and perform at state performance assessments and out-of-state music festivals, such as at Kings Island. The choirs also work frequently with guest clinicians and participate in workshops throughout Central Kentucky.
GRC has established itself as a home for quality choral music. Students have been selected for Kentucky Music Educators Association All-State Chorus, the highest honor for a choral musician in the state of Kentucky. The GRC choirs have also earned distinguished scores at the KMEA state performance assessment. |
The program is driven by Mr. Olson and Ms. Bennett's belief in music's ability to save lives and transform entire communities into creative, peaceful places. GRC's choirs provide opportunities for student leadership and strive to unlock the potential of every individual. Each class works toward quality music-making that values kindness, respect, creativity, and the understanding that each rehearsal and concert is an unrepeatable opportunity to make musical memories with friends and loved ones.
