Mr. Olson
Kris Olson teaches the Cardinal Singers and the Men's Chorus at GRC High School. He also teaches AP Music Theory, guitar, and the music majors within the Fine Arts Cohort program. He earned his Bachelor of Music in Choral Music Education from the University of Kentucky and his Bachelor of Arts in Applied Music (Guitar Performance) from Transylvania University. He studied choral conducting as a post-baccalaureate student at UK where he was also president of the renowned UK Men’s Chorus.
Mr. Olson is the director of the Kentuckians Chorus, the Lexington chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, with whom he organizes an annual vocal workshop for students in Central Kentucky. He served as a church musician at St. Raphael's Episcopal Church from 2009-2021. Mr. Olson is also a songwriter and arranger in a variety of genres and has taught guitar privately. As a member of various choirs, Mr. Olson has toured in several countries, including Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, and Switzerland. Other performance highlights include singing at St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, performing at the Salt Lake City Tabernacle (home of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir) as part of the American Choral Directors Association's national conference, and performing Carl Orff's Carmina Burana with the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra. He is married to his lovely wife Katherine. They have a sweet chihuahua named Minnie. |
Ms. Bennett
Holly Bennett teaches the GRC Women's Chorus as well as the choirs at Robert D. Campbell Junior High School. This will be her sixth year in Clark County.
Ms. Bennett is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in Choral Music Education. Throughout her college career, she was President of the UK Women’s Choir and was the coordinator and coach of UK’s mixed a cappella group, Blue Note. She also held an internship with the Lexington Singer’s Children’s Choir. Before attending UK, Ms. Bennett was a student of the School for the Creative and Performing Arts in Lexington and graduated from Lafayette High School. In the SCAPA program, she held a major in voice with a strong musical theater and classical voice background. |
